MC-Burn
MC-Burn is an MC (midnight commander) extension to cdrecord and mkisofs. This way you can use Midnight Commander to copy your files and use mcburn to burn a directory to CD directly from within MC. Another advantage is that it runs in console mode and you don't have to do weird things with SUID'ing cdrecord or start X in rootmode or whatever you sick minds can come up with to get access to the CD-(Re)writer.
Current version is: 0.2
- version: 0.2 download patch
This version is a patch-update. It fixes some bugs and is mainly created to patch the latest 4.6.1-pre1 MC. It might also work on 4.6.0, but I haven't tested it yet. If you find out it also works there, please let me know. This patch is contributed by Andy Shevchenko.
Together with this release, comes the decision that I do not release full mc trees with it anymore (to much hassle, bandwidth), only patches.
- version: 0.1bdownload mc patch
The first release is here! It inhibits the major features of mkisofs and cdrecord, such as Joliet and RockRidge extensions and dummy writes and multi session support. It is usable for day-to-day backups to CD-ROM. See here for full documentation (plain text). There are two downloads available. Please consider downloading the patch to keep traffic low, see documentation on how to patch your existing MC. The full version contains Midnight Commander 4.5.54. Note that this is beta software and might not work correctly on your system. Usage of this program is at your own risk. Please mail me any bugs you find.
- version: 0.1a
implementation: C
The only parts that are implemented now are the configuration menu and a small 'Burn this dir' option in MC's 'Command' menu. Most time right now is spent doing "how-does-this-work"-type of work and it seems I'm getting somewhere. You cannot download it, because it is in heavy development and no release has been done yet. If you want a copy of the current version, you can e-mail me. Also when you have some shocking news or revolutionary ideas (about mc/cdrecord/mcburn of course, I don't care about the death of your cat; really, I don't).
